Exhibit A (Interpellation) performance 2018

Note:

This is my first and possibly last performance. It is based on a conversation about data collection firms and their connection to surveillance. There is the possibility of every action, eventually thought, catalogued for later mining. I thought about the implications of reducing life to data, and in turn, the philosophical concept of interpellation (the flattening of the individual into a subject by the powers that be).

The time and location of the performance was not announced anywhere preceding the event; nor was it identified as such to those individuals who happened to be present during its unfolding. Its sole purpose was to offer itself to the possibility of being reduced to data by any system of data collection active at the time. Since data can be reanimated at a later date, the performance maintains the remote possibility of circulation through unknown agents for consumption by unspecified audiences.
